Art show on the floor

As we get ready to enjoy spring break and not starting a new project, this class was about having an art show displayed on the floor of our GYM.  I presented the students a tiny part of my portfolio in order for them to understand the creative process. From sketching to planning, also letting them see different techniques, some of them that we have used in class. It was fun having them outside of the classroom and giving them the chance to touch, observe and try materials as a part of the formation in this creative workshop that more than an art class it's a way to appreciate and being able to explore their talents and potential.

Claro Oscuro

During this experience, students were able to represent several textures, such as glass, candle light, skylines and animals hiding in the dark. By just the simple act of switching a white crayon on a black surface, each one of them got the sense of understanding how light creates volume or bi-dimensional effects. .

Our new experiment consist in making a twist in how we look at things in our everyday life. This time objects are coming from darkness being shaped by light in quite an elegant or mysterious way.

Anatomy Diagrams

If you have worked with teenagers or just been around them, you know how they can easily get on your nerves, most of the time they tend to go against what ever means "work", however there are days when they wake up with this pro active spirit and they just get on this smooth and amazing attitude that surprises everyone. We had an amazing class, we even asked to our English Teacher Norma to let us take the second hour to keep going and we ran our two hours so peacefully and focused. This group was at 7:45 am excited and happy, and you know teenagers love to sleep. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THAT NICE MORNING START.

Pixels to another level

We took pixel art to a bigger scale, and as annoying as it could be for the students to map grids and cut pieces of paper, the idea of this activity was to work on teams and let them interact with different responsibilities, but over all, we worked on TO BE PATIENT.
Now a days students want everything fast, everything done in a couple of clicks and they have no desire for things that can be built step by step. Sometimes we forget to teach and learn basic habits such as cutting, measuring and even getting hands dirty, another thing, is that after a long and cold winter, working outside under the sun breathing fresh air, also give us a different feeling and class dynamic.

What does anatomy has to do with a CCS class?
Pretty simple, our body where we live is the first communication tool we have, not only thru verbal resources but also body language. Learning about the container where we live, is appreciating and being aware of our potential and our possibilities to create.

PIXEL ART

For them to understand better their platforms and resources. Terminology changes with it, and PIXEL as a word and concept it's just a common word such as APP,  DOWNLOAD, UPGRADE among other words. In this exercise, students will understand topics such as RESOLUTION.

Points of light in a screen is what makes perfect images in video games, tablets, cell phones. Mapping images makes us understand where everything comes from in things that we see in our every day life. Such as when we study THE CELL in a chemistry class.

CCS WORKBOOK

This is the first CCS Work Book, where we summarize our work of six months and our activities previously publish in our blog. As we work in class, the manual and artistic activity comes in hand with either art history, science, or additional information of our every day life. Having a manual or a work book, help us to solidify this program.
